As part of our membership network, we have 300 freelancers working within the creative industries. Life can sometimes feel a bit lonely as a freelancer so a networking event like this is an opportunity to meet others in the same position. This event was very popular throughout 2023 and we are delighted to make it a permanent feature in our events programme. It’s the perfect chance to catch up with old friends and meet plenty of new faces too!
This event is open to freelancers as well as anyone who regularly engages with freelancers. It will allow you to widen networks, make new connections, discuss common problems, and discover potential opportunities for collaboration going forward. You’ll be sure to head home with a new contact. We had a record number of attendees at our June event so we’re looking forward to the same again!
The drinks will be held in the lower deck at The Square Club on Berkeley Square. We’ll have a private bar to purchase drinks, plus the food menu will be available if anyone fancies something to eat.
Tickets for BCI members are FREE and include a drinks token for the bar. Tickets for non-members are £5 +VAT.

Most people fuck up at some point…and nearly everyone lives to tell the tale.
Fuckup Nights is a global movement and event series that shares stories of professional failure. The event has been running in Bristol since 2023.
Events across the globe get three or four people to get up in front of a room full of strangers to share their own professional fuckup/mistake. The stories of the business that crashes and burns, the partnership that goes sour, the product that has to be recalled, stories like these will all be told.

At this event we will have three fabulous speakers who are going to share their mistakes. No happy ending for any of these three stories!
Hanna Mepstead – was entrusted with the care of a politician’s daughter – and managed to lose her in London!
Steven Adjei – Steven will share his stories of a failed business, bankruptcy, and moral struggles!
Owen Jones & Fiona Graham will discuss nearly losing a key client following a rebrand.

Hanna’s story is just one of the stories from her time as a celebrity’s PA. You might find out which one ‘on the night’!
In addition, Steven will tell us how he got duped out of hundreds of thousands of pounds in three continents!
Lastly, what do you do when a premium client hates your rebrand? Fiona from Devonia and brand consultant Owen reflect on a potentially catastrophic oversight.

A serial entrepreneur David has for the last 30 years worked exclusively in the online space having been part of the early management team at CompuServe, cofounded Sift and for the last 20 years led the team at Conscious Solutions, the UK’s leading digital marketing agency for law firms.
