With the support of members, we will be hosting a series of local meet-ups, so that local self-employed people can connect and learn from one another. The local meet-ups will allow you to expand your network and strengthen business opportunities, and we hope will boost your sense of wellbeing by sharing experiences with others.
On Wednesday 30th March, IPSE will be in Bristol and invites both members and non-members to join us for an evening of talks and networking. The evening will be an informal gathering with discussions led by IPSE’s Director of Policy Andy Chamberlain.
Andy will talk about the changing world of work, the challenges it poses to policy makers and the potential long term impacts of Covid-19. We’ll also welcome Faye Dicker from Freelance Mum who will share her business success story, about how she pivoted during Covid-19 and the impact it had on her community. This will be followed by drinks and your chance to create new connections and find out what local self-employed people are up to with their businesses.
The meet-up will take place on Wednesday 30th March at 18.00 – 20.00 at The Hole in the Wall. We have an area reserved and you are welcome to stay longer if you like. Some refreshments will be provided alongside a cash bar.
Since July 2019 I have been organising a monthly Meetup for BD people in Bristol… it’s a great mix of in-house BD people, business owners responsible for BD, independent consultants, and suppliers of BD related services.
It all started as a solution to the problem of BD being quite a lonely profession, but has become a great resource for learning and collaborating too.
The format is a ’round table’ type discussion, where everyone can contribute, with a maximum number of 15 people attending any given event.
The subject matter is always BD related, and based on the format there is no ‘selling’ or ‘presenting’, just honest discussion and debate and sharing of knowledge.
The events are held online at 9am on the second Wednesday of the month (follow the Eventbrite link below to see more dates).
The Easy Peelers are a new Bath-based indie band that make bittersweet jangly pop that throws sun-drenched guitars, pithy real world lyrics and anthemic choruses in the juicer.
Peach Pits meets The Smiths as this five piece bring nothing but energy and summer vibes as you dance the night away with an easy smile.
With £4 tickets on the door, it’s an event you don’t want to miss! Should be a great night.

Brands today are being held accountable for their marketing and being cancelled can have negative consequences.
In this session, Joyann will show you how to avoid using token diversity in your campaigns and teach you how to create authentic personas which truly reflect your audience.
Using real world examples from both questionable and good campaigns such as Pepsi’s 2017 promotion featuring Kendall Jenner and Gillette’s ‘First Shave’ ad (can you guess which is the questionable example?!), Joyann will demonstrate how you can be part of the movement for inclusive marketing.
Jam-packed with tips and tools to help you create inclusive and accessible content for your audience, this session is perfect for both content creators and marketing managers who are responsible for the overall strategy of their brand.
Tickets: £12.45
At TMW, we’re all about staying curious. We like to actively seek out the new and unusual to find inspiration wherever we can.
That’s why we’re sending our Social & Influence Director and Strategy Director to South by South West in Austin, Texas – so that they can uncover the latest and most important trends at the world’s biggest knowledge sharing festival. Once they’re home, they’ll be sharing what they’ve seen and learned to a live audience, right here in Bristol.
What will they report back? Well, it’s too soon to say, but expect to hear the rootin’-tootin’ latest from the cutting edge in marketing, technology, culture and everything else in between.
When we returned from the last SXSW all the way back in 2019, we were most struck by how the conversation had shifted from revering tech to fearing it, with big corporations coming under mounting pressure over their ethical practices.
In the 3 years since, there’s been a pandemic, a new President, a Facebook rebrand and a whole new web has developed – so to say there’s going to be a lot of new ground to cover is probably an understatement.
This is our first in-person in over two years so we’re very excited. Expect drinks, canapés and fun for all.

Join us on Wednesday 23 March, 1 – 3.00pm for the latest in our series of online interactive seminars. For this one, we will be exploring participatory practices in a digital age – how to excite, and include from a distance.
The pandemic presented many new challenges to many organisations, and we had no choice to be responsive. In this seminar, we’ll learn from those whose practises evolved, and discovered innovative and exciting new ways to engage with audiences and participants – and we’ll hear how they managed to keep their values at the heart of their work.

• Understand the benefits of this work both for participants and for your organisations
• Explore how to successfully engage participants
