The South West KTG Team

We’re living through an interesting part of history. Advancements in technology are rapidly changing our lives and the way we work. We’re also more connected than ever before, allowing us to stay in touch and perform our duties from just about anywhere in the world. Yet this rate of change and development means that employers need new and evolving skill sets. As such, some fear a ‘skills gap’ is opening.

As an employment-focused further educational (FE) institute, we want to ensure that we are teaching our learners the skills Bristol’s employers need. How do we do this? Well, this is where you come in..

We’re hosting an afternoon of discussion at our flagship Bristol campus. The discussion will explore topics such as –

Furthermore, we’ll be giving an exciting tour of our £4.5m campus redevelopment, along with refreshments & networking opportunities. Plus, we’ll be letting employers know about our early careers offering.

Collaboration between educational institutions and local employers is essential to growing Bristol’s future workforce. Let’s start this conversation, together.

OCTOBER’S TOPIC… A/B Testing Do’s & Don’ts.

Who doesn’t love an A/B test?! But with the tools making it so easy to get tests up and running, it’s common for teams to run before they can walk. In this session we’ll share experiences of things you should always try to do when running an A/B Test as well as those things you should try to avoid.

Come and join us to ask questions and share your own experiences.

5:40: TALK 1Ellie Hughes, Managing Consultant at AND Digital will run through what she considers “the Fallacies of AB testing“. Ellie will share her top A/B Testing tips with us from over 10 years’ experience as an “Experimentation Ninja”.

6:00: TALK 2Thomas Lawson, Head of Sales at AB Tasty will explain why you should balance risk and reward by testing bigger, bolder changes in your A/B tests: “Mitigating Risk with Digital Experimentation“. He’ll include some case studies and some surprising test results.

**Special thanks to Thomas and the AB tasty team for also sponsoring this Meetup**

6:20: DISCUSSION: Chance to ask Ellie & Thomas questions and share your own stories & tips for A/B Testing. Please come prepared to share.

6:30: 60 SECOND SHOUT OUTS: Your opportunity for an announcement. Recruiting? Event coming up? Help needed? Selling something? Shout about it.

Join us at The Square Club on Tuesday 18th October from 5.30 – 8pm for our freelancer networking drinks.

As part of our membership network, we have over 200 freelancers working within the creative industries. Life can sometimes feel a bit lonely as a freelancer so a networking event like this is an opportunity to meet others in the same position. It’s the perfect chance to catch up with old friends and meet plenty of new faces too!

This event will allow you to widen networks, make new connections, discuss common problems, and discover potential opportunities for collaboration going forward. You’ll be sure to head home with a new contact.

The drinks will be held in the lower deck of The Square Club on Berkeley Square. We’ll have a private bar to purchase drinks, plus the food menu will be available if anyone fancies something to eat.

This is a free event for BCI members and includes a drinks token for the bar. Tickets are £5 +VAT for non-members.
