For our next Behind the Scenes screen industries meetup, we’re focusing on skills and opportunities for people in the industry, and the challenges for finding work or moving to different sectors.
The evening will begin with some casual networking, followed by an introduction from Sara Whybrew from the British Film Institute, before we go into a panel discussion on the challenges and opportunities around skills in the screen industries.
We’ll then have a break before splitting into separate breakout sessions focusing on specific challenges around moving from scripted to unscripted, updating your CV, and mental health and support in the screen industries.
We’ll also have a showcase area where you can meet local suppliers and find some useful resources.
Our panel of experts from broadcast, education and the film industry will help answer the most pressing questions from our host Adam Millbank (Nine Tree Studios), as well as the audience.
Panelists: Stacey Olika from Channel 4; Jane Coulter from All Set West; Charlotte Wadsworth from Aardman; Sara Whybrew from BFI and Sherie Humphreys from WEMCA.
Worlds apart – how to go from unscripted into scripted
Laura Aviles from The Bottle Yard Studios and Amanda Brown from BBC Studios will be lead a discussion looking at the skills required to make the switch from unscripted to scripted, sharing advice on how you can adapt your skills and move into other areas of the industry.
Make your CV work hard for you
Join us for a practical session where we’ll share tips on creating a CV that stands out in today’s ever-changing job market. You’ll learn how to craft a CV that not only highlights your strengths but can also be adapted to help you pivot into other roles in the creative sector. Whether you’re looking to switch careers, or open doors to new opportunities, we’ll show you how to showcase your existing skills.
Don’t miss out on this chance to create a CV that works hard for you! This session will be run by Charlotte Ball from Gritty Talent – with a decade of experience as a TV Producer making content for the BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5, across a variety of genres, Charlotte’s industry knowledge and practical production experience position her as Gritty’s lead on training, development and off-screen recruitment. Most recently, she has been leading training sessions for Virtual Production Bootcamps, with a core focus on upskilling and empowering individuals from the creative sector.
