Curating ideas, spaces and talent, Watershed enables artistic visions and creative collaborations to flourish. Watershed is rooted in Bristol but places no boundaries on its imagination or desire to connect with artists and audiences in the wider world. Set in an unparalleled location on the historic harbourside of Bristol, one of the most culturally innovative and progressive cities in Europe Watershed delivers a diverse, cultural programme of films, events, festivals, artist commissions, tours and conferences.
Opened in 1982 as the UK’s first media centre, Watershed exists in two distinct physical spaces on the Harbourside. Three cinemas, a large, light and airy Cafe and a suite of flexible conference and events spaces are housed in a Grade II listed, fully accessible building. This vibrant and beautiful building is complemented by the Pervasive Media Studio, a separate research and development space where creativity and technology meet. Watershed is also a leading exponent and commissioner of on-line creativity through its website dShed.net exhibiting short film, animation, debate, projects, podcasts and artists commissions to a worldwide audience.
