Member Bio

Tom Richards is a self-shooting wildlife and conservation documentary producer, with a history of producing premium blue chip and expedition–based natural history series such as Earth at Night in Color, Earthsounds and The Wild Ones. He also takes that work into the commercial world, telling video stories for purpose-led businesses.

He is also a co-organiser of the grassroots community Filmmakers for Future: Wildlife, where his work spans a range of intersectional issues relating to how wildlife filmmaking can do better for the natural world, including hosting talks on decolonising the wildlife filmmaking industry, to encouraging more impact across natural history productions through the use of proper impact campaigns, to making our industry more sustainable.

More recently he has started an independent conservation film project in Nigeria, producing a film with his vision of impact-based, truly collaborative and equitable filmmaking. He is also a co-founder of an impact production company, The Barking Gecko.
