JOE MAGGI
Composer and producer from Scotland where my work has reached the final of BBC Introducing Scottish Act of
the Year for two consecutive years as well as shortlists such as the Scottish Album of the Year and
the Scottish Alternative Music Awards. I have released a vinyl album producer alongside a singer/songwriter which will be attached in the URL.
Alongside my artist career, I have studied and gained knowledge in sound engineering which could help me greatly with this apprenticeship. I have engineered one of the stages at the Kelburn festival, mixed bands in a bar setting and worked for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year as a light and sound engineer, working alongside acts having to cater for whatever they needed sonically.
I am classically trained with ABRSM Grade 8 piano and Grade 5 guitar, giving me a solid grounding in music theory and notation. Since I was 16, I have worked with young people through music. I began volunteering at Intercultural Youth Scotland (Multicultural Charity Hub) in Edinburgh, which led to being offered part-time work managing a studio in order to help young adults turn their creative ideas into finished songs. After moving to Bristol, I continued this work at a school, Learning Partnership West, running sessions with children and young people, supported by DBS clearance and safeguarding training.
