Friction Collective is a team of filmmakers, photographers, directors, editors & animators based in Bristol.

We are a full service production house with a shared desire to tell stories that matter.

We craft video content ranging from Commercials, Product Releases, Documentaries & both Long and Short Form Films for brands, individuals, charities, and events.

Video is now one of the most powerful and versatile promotional tools. When executed intelligently with an elegant & character driven narrative, it has the capacity to strengthen your brand and help you to stand out from the crowd.

Jack

Director | Camera Operator | : Jack started the company Friction Collective Ltd. back in 2014 and has an innate understanding of the image, the narrative and pulling multiple elements together to craft a well told, highly emotive and deeply moving story.

Fin

DOP | Colourist | Photographer | : Fin is the creative talent and photographic eye that drives Friction along its stylised, perfectionist, professional path. With over 35 years of experience in the media business, Fin knows exactly how to achieve nearly every visual style you can imagine.

Josh

Creative Director | Camera Operator | Editor | : Since its inception Josh has been there camera in hand, often attached to a strange homemade rig of some sort. With a drive to push the barriers of visual storytelling and create innovative ways to capture the world. With a diverse background in Everything from Drone flying to Animation (and everything in between) he has the technical knowledge to backup his mad-hat ideas and bring them to reality. Balancing this with a firm grounding in the fundamentals of story and human nature.

Connie

Studio Manager | Social Media Manager | Junior Editor | : With a background in Interior Design and a knack for organisation, Connie works with us to help things run smoothly behind the scenes, creating epic social media content, organising kit and managing the collective as a whole.

Em

Marketing | Business Development | Events | : Em joined Friction Collective from several years in both TV and events production – working for music festivals, corporate events and various factual entertainment TV shows. Working with the team behind the scenes, she helps the business organically grow, through making connections and sharing our (what she calls ‘wonderful’) films with interested audiences.

Patrick H

Sound Design | Audio : Paddy has been the backbone to Friction’s soundtrack for as long as we can remember. His skill in picking up the minute details shines through in his work, creating custom soundtracks for high flying corporate clients as easily as he can record and replicate some of the cleanest audio you’ve ever heard whilst in the loudest, dirtiest festival scene. Paddy has innate talent when it comes to sound, his skillset ranges through composition, live sound recording, sound design and Foley.

Patrick W-M

Producer : Patrick is a young Producer who has a passion for all things documentary, outdoors and adventure filmmaking. Originally from the Midlands, Patrick decided to follow his true passions after sixth form and dive head first into filmmaking an in particular, Producing. From traditional narrative dramas to dark fantasy and 30 second commercials shot on 16mm Kodak film, Patrick has had the opportunity to work across a wide range of film and video production genres. Looking forward, Patrick aims to continue to develop himself as an exciting young producer in Bristol’s filmaking landscape.

Sam

Director | Camera Operator : Sam is an enthusiastic young filmmaker passionate about documentary film making and commercial directing. Originally from Germany, Sam has always had an interest in outdoor adventures and cycling. This lead onto him discovering his first handheld video cam and shooting biking videos for fun. Having worked on a range of projects from commercials and documentaries to narrative short films, Sam has been able to experience working with a wide variety of people, equipment and creative challenges.

Grace

Camera Operator : Grace is a young filmmaker with a passion for documentary and factual film making. Through her time spent on the BA film making degree at the University of the West of England, she developed her skills in all stages of production, including camera work, editing, colour grading, narrative development, directing, and production managing.
