Overview:
The role of 3D Designer is integral to the smooth running of Bakehouse Factory design department. We rely on you to be part of the creative drive and overall vision of Bakehouse and to have the best interests of the business in mind. The organisation thrives on the collaboration of its core team to ensure everyone is working towards the common goal of producing high quality events within the time and budget available to us.
As a leading events company, Bakehouse Factory manages a high volume of events annually. The 3D Designer plays a pivotal role in supporting the comprehensive design process, from conceptual development through to technical drafting and final design approval. This position ensures seamless assistance throughout each phase of the design workflow. The position works closely with the Head of Design to ensure production designs are serviced with care and attention.
Costing is a large part of the role; clients seek value for money and designs must be achievable within the cost and timeline allocated. It is essential for the design department to prioritise practicality, ensuring designs adhere to material constraints while consistently exploring innovative fabrication methods to support the department’s continuous growth.
Key Responsibilities:
New Business:
Supported by the Head of Design, work with the new business team to create content for proposals, to help secure new projects.
Take responsibility for specific projects from concept through to technical design and into production.
Respond to briefs by creating visual representations of concepts and ideas generated through the new business process.
Attend regular design team meetings to discuss proposals and contribute design ideas.
Production:
Collaborate with the design team to enhance the sourcing of suppliers and materials.
Work alongside the Head of Design to ensure working drawings are supplied for each of our ‘live’ jobs with information for all relevant departments.
Support the Head of Design with graphic design allocation and briefing. Use your knowledge of the final designs to review packing lists.
Work with the Head of Production on time-lines for projects for workshop and install. Work with the Production Assistant to source suitable
materials for projects. Follow the budget through from costing to tracking. Take part in specific installations and de-rigs, as required.
General:
Support the cataloguing of our existing stock and help to create a database that makes the pitching and drawing process easier and easier over time.
Help to create good relationships with new suppliers to make the pricing and production of our projects as smooth as possible.
Keep on top of current trends in the industry, make notes and collect imagery that we can use to generate ideas and visualisations for proposals and our ongoing bank of resources. Drive forwards the goal of 3D modelling all Bakehouse owned set and props.
Carry out other reasonable tasks as requested by your line manager.
Required skills
– Advanced Sketchup and Adobe Suite
– Experience with 3D, immersive and experiential design
– Basic understanding of graphics and their use in overall design
– Experience of working with clients and internal departments
– Experience of playful and family design
– Basic understanding on construction techniques and materials
– An understanding of budgeting
