Job Description
As part of our continuing growth, BBC Sky at Night Magazine is looking for a dynamic individual to help commission, write, and edit engaging content for our print and digital platforms.
With 24 issues (12 print and 12 digital exclusives) a year, you will produce the monthly news section, and generate ideas for must-read, long-form feature ideas and shorter regular columns – whether by commissioning expert writers (and editing their work) or writing standout stories yourself.

Required skills
Essential
- A seasoned content editor with a keen eye for detail and a passion for quality storytelling.
- Strong editorial instincts and the ability to generate compelling feature ideas.
- Excellent news gathering and writing skills, with a knack for bringing space science down to earth.
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
Desirable
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a passion for space science, stargazing and content creation.
- A strong visual sense, able to convey ideas for images and graphics to others.
- Adaptable and eager to contribute across different platforms, including digital and podcasts.
- Comfortable using analytics tools to inform content decisions.
