Job Description
Head of Marketing
Location: Bath/hybrid
Salary: Up to £50,000 £70,000 + performance bonus
We’re working with a fast-growing UK digital business operating in an exciting and evolving consumer market. The business has built a strong customer proposition and is now looking for an ambitious, commercially focused Head of Marketing to take ownership of its next phase of growth.
This is a highly digital, performance-led marketing role, with responsibility for driving growth across paid acquisition, CRM and emerging digital channels. You’ll own strategy across platforms such as Meta, Google, TikTok and other paid channels, while continually testing and scaling new opportunities. The business also has a growing app proposition, with opportunities to develop push notifications, SMS, WhatsApp and lifecycle marketing to improve retention and repeat purchase. You’ll be expected to use data, testing and customer insight to optimise the full digital journey, from acquisition through to conversion, retention and reactivation.
A leadership role where you’ll set the marketing strategy, own the budget and commercial performance, and work closely with a small, capable team to deliver measurable growth. It’s an opportunity for someone who enjoys having genuine ownership rather than simply managing from a distance
The Role
You’ll take responsibility for the full marketing function, including:
- Developing and executing the overall marketing and growth strategy.
- Owning the marketing budget, performance and commercial return.
- Leading paid acquisition across established and emerging channels.
- Identifying, testing and scaling new acquisition opportunities.
- Developing CRM, lifecycle marketing, retention and reactivation activity.
- Working across organic, content, community and brand activity to create an integrated approach.
- Using data and testing to continually improve conversion, customer value and marketing efficiency.
- Leading and developing a small marketing team.
- Reporting performance and commercial results directly to senior leadership.
You’ll also have exposure to wider areas of the business, with opportunities to contribute to product, customer proposition, content and other growth initiatives.
Required skills
About you
You’ll be a senior marketer who is commercially minded, analytical and genuinely hands-on – it’ll be a roll your sleeves up kind of role sometimes, so if you’re looking to work for a large corporate with a large support team, this probably isn’t for you.
You’ll ideally have:
Experience within ecommerce, subscription, gaming, entertainment, competitions or other non-traditional consumer businesses would be advantageous, as would experience with offline or influencer-led marketing.
- A proven track record of growing revenue through marketing.
- Experience owning a significant marketing budget and being accountable for its return.
- Strong paid acquisition and performance marketing experience.
- Experience developing new channels and testing different routes to market.
- A good understanding of the full customer lifecycle, including CRM, segmentation and retention.
- The ability to interpret data, identify issues and make decisions independently.
- Experience leading and developing a small team.
- The confidence to work closely with founders/senior leadership and take full ownership of outcomes.
The Opportunity
This is a chance to take genuine ownership of marketing within a growing business where your decisions will have a direct impact on commercial performance.
Success will mean delivering significant growth, improving marketing efficiency, developing new acquisition opportunities, increasing customer retention and building a marketing function capable of scaling with the business, not just in the UK but internationally too.
Working Environment
The role is based in Bath, with a hybrid working arrangement involving approximately three days per week in the office in a collaborative team.
