As the world opened up once again, we were keen to offer our members more creative ways of networking, so we teamed up with Outside to organise these networking sessions with groups of 12 people (similar to our members’ lunches) who are keen to don their walking boots and explore the stunning countryside around Bristol and Bath. A great opportunity for members to make some new connections within the industry whilst getting some much needed fresh air!
The location for this Walk & Talk will be the Rowberrow Warren Wood – Dolebury Hill Fort 9km circular loop. We’ll meet in the car park at The Swan Inn pub (BS25 1QL) ready to leave at 9.30am. After the walk, for those that want to stay and carry on chatting, there is the option to grab some lunch (and maybe a nice cold pint!) at the pub.
Over the course of a (roughly) 3 hour circular walk, you’ll get to spend 10-15 minutes chatting to each of your fellow walkers. No agenda as such, just clear open space for thinking, connecting, sharing experiences about your businesses and exploring possibilities. The BCI team will be joining the group too so it’s a great chance to chat to them about getting the most out of your BCI membership.
This event is exclusively for BCI members and registration is required in advance via the button below. For those who are also members of Outside, this event is free of charge. If you’re not a member of Outside, the cost will be £10+VAT.
Our members’ lunches, a long term fixture in the BCI events calendar, are still continuing as normal every month online throughout the year, but we want to keep offering these walking sessions too which will start from different locations around the area on a quarterly basis.
Bristol Creative Industries is the membership network that supports the region's creative sector to learn, grow and connect, driven by the common belief that we can achieve more collectively than alone.

Talk
Is your crisis plan up to scratch? Hear journalist Andrew Lynch talk through some of the worst crisis strategies he’s seen when breaking major news stories during 40 years at national and international newsdesks.
This May, we will be joined by seasoned journalist Andrew Lynch, who has served at the likes of the Bristol Evening Post, Financial Times, The Guardian, The Sunday Telegraph, and The Daily Mail, and The Sunday Times.
From working as a night editor during the London Bridge attack, to deputy night editor during the Hong Kong handover ceremony, he is perfectly positioned to explain the process a journalist takes when investigating a story, what is helpful to know from PRs, and what not to do.
Join us for a relaxed 90 minutes of good food, good vibes, and good company, all topped off with critical insight on crisis communications and what you need to do to ensure your strategy is foolproof. Andrew will break down some of the worst crisis responses he’s seen, and what PR professionals can learn from them.

Networking
Calling all aspiring creatives! Ready to level up your creative portfolio?
We’re hosting an evening of portfolio reviews at our Bristol studio.
This is an opportunity to meet like-minded people, get real feedback on your creative tinkerings & ask any burning questions to a team of working designers who’ve been where you are.
What to expect:
You’ll rotate through quickfire reviews with our team – Motion Designers, Graphic Designers, Copywriters, Art Directors, and more – and leave with fresh perspectives and practical feedback.
There’ll also be time to mingle with other creatives, chat to the Shaped By team over drinks and snacks.
What we’re looking for:
This night’s for anyone with creative energy and something to share. Whether you’re self-taught, switching things up, or fresh out of uni.
To apply, just:
• Be 18 or over
• Tell us why you’d like to come
• Share at least three pieces of work (digital or printed – finished or in progress, all good)
We’re not expecting perfection. So whether it’s a fully-fledged project, a work-in-progress, or even just initial concepts, we care how you think!
