Now in our 10th year, once again we are delighted to have collaborated with World Book Day on their website for 2020. Eight months of strategy, development and design concludes with over half a million unique visitors to the website on the day itself — we are proud to see the website grow year on year.

This is the third year of their ‘Share a Story’ campaign to encourage children to share stories with people in their lives for ten minutes every dayTo celebrate this, the nation is currently joining the Reading Revolution to help World Book Day ‘Share a Million Stories’ — which has featured on a number of publications including ‘The Beano’, and ‘The Week Junior’.

There have been lots of exciting additions to the site this year, including:

Celebrate stories. Love reading.

Communications agency Purplefish is thrilled to have launched a series of meet-ups for creative businesses based at the Paintworks, Bristol’s creative quarter.

Together with fellow Paintworks-dwellers Sundog, Purplefish intends the monthly, informal events to facilitate the sharing of ideas and experiences between the exciting companies that call each other neighbours.

The first meet-up, which took place on 9th January, was hosted at the Purplefish office and saw a variety of Paintworks tenants in attendance including the Royal Photographic Society, Studio Giggle, Zeal Interiors, Mum Does Design, Otrovez and Sundog.

The idea is that the group moves around to a different business each time, all in the name of collaboration.

Commenting on the event, Purplefish managing director, Joanna Randall, said: “The community aspect of the Paintworks was a huge pull-factor for us in deciding to move here in October 2018.

“With our neighbours all doing such interesting work in their respective industries, we wanted to encourage more connections whilst keeping things informal, not forced or ‘salesy’ in any way.

“The invitation truly is open to all creatives at Paintworks – whether you are a sole-trader or a larger business, we’d love to get to know you!”

If you’re a creative business based at Paintworks, keep an eye out for details about the February event via the Purplefish social channels.

Friends of Saint Paul’s library were delighted that poet and writer Lemn Sissay was able to join us in April to read some of his poetry. One of the most important comments he made was about how – 30 years ago – his career started in libraries up and down the country. He stressed that libraries were cultural hubs, places where great art was shared by all.

FOSPL holds that principle very close

Friends of Saint Paul’s Library (FOSPL), was set up in April 2019. We hold monthly meetings and began by organising community events. We were delighted that poet and writer Lemn Sissay was able to join us in April, read some of his poetry. One of the most important comments he made was about how – 30 years ago – his career started in libraries up and down the country. He stressed that libraries were cultural hubs, places where great art was shared by all.

FOSPL holds that principle very close. In fact, it is what prompted an application to the National Lottery’s awards for all scheme. We were successful – so, we have a brilliant programme of free activities and events starting from January, which we hope will attract old and new faces to St Paul’s Library.
