Junior Camera Operator

JonesMillbank

Job Description

About us

We’re a full-service production company creating TV commercials and branded content.

Our clients include some of the world’s biggest brands including DHL, Oxfam, Dyson and Nestle, alongside the likes of The Royal Mint, IDLES and University of Bristol.

To say our work – and the role – is varied is an understatement. Our productions range from a dozen crew shooting a 30s TVC on RED, to a tight-knit crew filming a documentary with natural light… and everything in-between.

We’re based at Nine Tree Studios, our own 10,000sq ft film studio in Brislington. Home to our office, two studios and our extensive kit store, we host both our own and other productions.

Job description

We’re looking for a Junior Camera Operator to join our team. You’ll have a talent and eye for filmmaking and a demonstrable passion for branded content and creative storytelling.

You’ll be working alongside our production team from the get-go, acting as an assistant on larger productions and as camera operator on smaller-scale and studio-based shoots.

You’ll also be involved in the whole production process, helping to develop creative concepts from briefs and seeing them to fruition through both production and post-production.

With both on-the-job and supported training, we’ll expect the right person to progress confidently to be able to act as primary shooter, develop your filmmaking knowledge and experience, and supplement the team with any personal talents or passions you might have.

With the vast majority of our shoots being on-location, you’ll be travelling across the region and further afield to tell our clients stories, working directly with clients, models and contributors in a range of environments.

We’re also looking for someone who aligns with our culture and values. These values are:

Our values are embedded in everything we do and form a part of our recruitment process, annual reviews, and day-to-day ethos.

Required skills

You’ll likely be fresh from training or have one or two year’s experience under your belt, either working on your own projects or freelancing for other agencies.

More than just experience we’re looking for a creative eye, with a showreel and approach to film that shows an appreciation for composition and an understanding of storytelling beyond just being a tech-junkie.

Whilst we’ll help develop your creative, you’ll likely have an approach to style, composition and visuals that can fit comfortably with our house style and existing clients, whilst having a spark that can add something different to new briefs and clients.

Aside from the creative, you’ll be hard-working, outgoing, and personable in front of clients and contributors. Whilst our productions are constantly growing in scale and scope, you’ll also relish the challenge and be comfortable shooting in a more obs-doc style.
