Member Bio
Trained as a graphic designer, I founded Proctor + Stevenson in 1979 and Intimis in 2000.
As an advocate for British design as a global leader, I believe in its positive impact economically, culturally, and socially. My former company P+S operates across Europe, North America, the Middle and Far East where it has established a global reputation.
I collaborated with the South West Regional Development Agency, Design Council and the European Commission and addressed the European Commission Innova Conference in Copenhagen re design strategy and excellence in the SW, and provided evidence to a House of Lords Committee regarding the future of design. I served on the South West Design Programme board, helped to found and Chair the West of England Design Forum for several years, and chaired Design South West.
I received an honorary degree for strengthening the design industry-education connection and an MBE for services to design in the south west. I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers.
I am also a board member of Business Beats Cancer Bristol, a trustee of Arthroplasty for Arthritis and serve on the International Committee of the International Topper sailing dinghy. I am also involved in promoting youth sailing globally.
