Account Manager PR and Communications
Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
We are looking for an experienced Account Manager to join an established PR and communications agency, working across a varied portfolio of clients and sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident communications professional who enjoys combining client management, strategic thinking and hands-on PR delivery.
The Role
As an Account Manager, you will take responsibility for managing client accounts and delivering effective communications activity that supports their wider business objectives.
You will work closely with clients to understand their priorities, develop creative ideas and identify opportunities to raise their profile with relevant audiences.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing day-to-day relationships with a portfolio of clients.
- Developing and delivering integrated PR and communications campaigns.
- Providing strategic communications advice and recommendations.
- Identifying compelling stories, angles and opportunities for clients.
- Building relationships with journalists and securing relevant media coverage.
- Writing and editing press releases, features, articles, case studies and other content.
- Supporting digital and social media activity where appropriate.
- Managing multiple projects, deadlines and budgets.
- Briefing and supporting junior members of the team.
- Monitoring campaign results and reporting back to clients.
- Contributing ideas to new business and client development activity.
- Keeping up to date with news, media trends and developments relevant to clients.
Required skills
About You
We are looking for someone who is already operating at Account Manager level within a PR, communications or related agency environment.
You will ideally have:
- Strong experience managing client accounts independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A good understanding of the UK media landscape.
- Proven experience generating media coverage.
- The ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging stories.
- Strong organisational and project-management skills.
- Confidence presenting ideas and recommendations to clients.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
- A proactive approach, with the confidence to spot opportunities rather than simply respond to briefs.
Most importantly, you will be someone who can understand a client’s business, identify what matters to their audiences and translate that into effective communications activity.
