Creative technology leader strengthens strategic partnership with Bristol’s innovation ecosystem.
Aer Studios has secured a residency at The Sheds, a pioneering creative technology hub in Bristol’s Temple Quarter backed by the University of Bristol.
The move marks a major milestone for Aer Studios as it builds on its long-term strategic partnership with MyWorld and strengthens its role within the South West’s rapidly growing creative tech ecosystem.
Recognised as a centre of excellence for digital and creative technology innovation, The Sheds brings together industry, academia and emerging businesses to develop next-generation ideas, experiences and products. The facility offers access to cutting-edge immersive technology, AR capabilities, advanced production workflows and the Dolby Atmos equipped cinema.
Aer Studios already has strong roots within the ecosystem. The company has hosted multiple innovation workshops at The Sheds’ Neutral Labs, including a high-profile gathering of creative industry leaders that helped inspire the region’s first Creative, Tech and Culture festival.
Last year, Aer Studios partnered with MyWorld and Condense to launch Pocket Talks, a world-first proof of concept enabling audiences to experience live immersive keynote presentations in augmented reality via smartphone. The experience featured Manon Dave from the BBC.
The residency now gives Aer Studios a permanent base within The Sheds, providing its designers and creative technologists with direct access to world-class facilities, collaborative workspaces and innovation programmes. The new presence will also support closer interaction with clients and partners across the UK and internationally.
The agreement further strengthens a multi-year strategic partnership between Aer Studios, MyWorld, The Sheds and a wider network of collaborators spanning higher education, public sector organisations and private industry.
The announcement follows a period of significant growth for Aer Studios, including the recent appointments of industry leader Scott Ewings as Chief Strategy Officer and James Hobbs as Chief Technology Officer.
Tom Harber, CEO, Aer Studios, said:
“Our residency at The Sheds is a significant strategic move for Aer Studios. It reflects our ambition to help put Bristol and the wider region firmly on the map as a global leader in creative technology.
“We don’t just want to participate in the conversation – we want to help lead it. This is about bringing together the people, ideas and technologies shaping the future of creative innovation.
“The Sheds is far more than a workspace. It’s the epicentre of digital and creative technology innovation in the region and being based here is a powerful statement of intent for our next stage of growth.”
Oscar De Mello, Assistant Director of The Sheds, said:
“We’ve built a strong relationship with the Aer Studios team over the past few years and their vision, creativity and technical capability consistently stand out.
“Welcoming them as a Resident and into our community felt like a natural next step and we’re excited to see what we can achieve together.”
Aer Studios is a creative technology studio on a mission - using Creative Technology to accelerate positive impact for clients and causes where the stakes are high and the outcomes matter.
